The novel is not unreadable, it is enjoyable for the Bond fans, but it is far from being one of the best in the series

To enjoy this book, it’s good to be familiar with the character of Hook from the original play

Alternative history stories telling about the Nazis taking over the world are not uncommon, the possibilities are obviously horrifying and the author does not shy away from this motif.

The author keeps the reader guessing about the real motives of all the characters involved. As is in life, there is not black and white, but only shades of gray. Even the “good guys” have their own dark motivation.
