The author gets the series on track, it is a lot of fun and many of the team-up panels are a joy. The Harley Quinn / Billy Batson story-line is hilarious and misguided, as one would expect from Harley Quinn. As it turns out, Billy Batson has lost his power and Harley Quinn is out to help him get it back because she has a crash on his superhero half (or “Shazzy”).
The annual, featuring Plastic Man trying to locate his son in Superman’s super prison proves that he is not only a fun character, but very powerful as well. As in the story with Harley Quinn / Billy Batson, it is filled with humor and makes fun of the series itself.
One of the reasons I enjoyed this series, besides being a fan of the game, is the twist that the good old DC characters get. This is an alternate timeline, of course, but I do get the feeling that the mainstream DC universe is one bad decision away from becoming this world.
This was a nice ending to an OK story-line, the annual itself was the best part in the graphic novel. I did enjoy it more than then Vol. 1, I just hope we get better villains.
Superman has been ruling humanity for four years now, with an iron fist. The gods of Olympus have been trying to overthrow Superman, and even though they ended his tyrannical rule, their regime is not any better.
