Thoughts:
A Possibility of Violence by D. A. Mishani is another police procedural, much like the first book. The majority of the book takes place in Holon, a suburb of Israel’s largest city Tel-Aviv. Like the first book in the series, The Missing File, the story follows the investigation of Inspector Avraham Avraham.

This is a standalone book, but I highly recommend to read The Missing File first to understand the history of the protagonist with his peers, boss and girlfriend. In this book, like the first, Avraham sees a crime where no one else does, but this time the mistakes from the previous case haunt him, his credentials and doubtful supervisors.

I thought the storyline was less plausible then in the first book. Avraham is flawed, like the rest of us, but as the first novel was a vehicle to understanding our own pursuit of a path we are not willing to abandon. This novel fell a bit short, but it was still interesting.

A Possibility of Violence is not a fast paced book, it is more introspective and analytical as Avraham makes his way toward, what he believes, is the right resolution to his case. The story is engaging and even though the protagonist is a tough character, he is still very compelling.

Synopsis:
Israeli Inspector Avraham Avraham is back after a much needed vacation. When a suitcase, thought to be a bomb, is found near a daycare center, Avraham is put on the case

The inspector is still bothered by his failures from the previous case and is determined not to make the same mistakes again. Avraham’s intense investigation, however, might be what slows the case down.
