Thoughts:
I enjoyed William Shakespeare’s Start Wars so I figure why not read William Shakespeare’s the Empire Striketh Back by Ian Doescher. What I found was another entertaining book which was funny and a fast read.

I have to confess, The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite Star Wars movie. Maybe it was because that was the first one I saw, or maybe (more likely) it wasn’t direct by George Lucas.

Much like the last book, where one of the best parts was R2S2 soliloquy, the author also gives some minor characters the proverbial stage to share their thoughts with the unseen audience. The Wampa gets a voice, an AT-AT dramatically (and hilariously) recounts a battle and even the space monster (one that swallowed the Millennium Falcon) gets to say its peace.

The book also includes various illustrations, done in Elizabethan style which range in quality (some I loved, some not so much) but certainly fit the theme of the book. The illustrations are done is such a way that they looked almost as if etched.

Overall, a wonderful parody of the movie, I enjoyed reading the second volume as much as I did the first. Mr. Doescher’s wit and sense of humor shine through the pages and make the reading worthwhile.

If you don’t know, this book isn’t for you.
