Much like other anthologies I read, in Collectibles some are fascinating, some less so. However, this is a solid collection featuring talented authors.
Floralinda, a princess, has been jailed by a witch in a 40 story tower and is awaiting a prince to come and rescue her. The witch, however, done things right this time and put a monster on every level which the princes will have to fight through; none makes it through the first floor and eventually they stop coming.
When I was about half way in the novella, I didn’t know if I was reading a supernatural story, or one about a man’s sanity spiraling down to oblivion. It turned out that this story is a bit of both, exploring the traumas of childhood and how it affects adults’ lives.
The story is about an author named David Martin who accepts an assignment to write a book for a very rich client.
An offer too good to be true.
