Wallace Stevens (2 October, 1879 – 2 August, 1955) was an American poet and an insurance executive.

During World War II Mr. Brecht wrote for the Exilliteratur, an anti-Nazi movement of authors expressing opposition to the National Socialist and Fascist regimes

Gwendolyn Brooks (7 June, 1917 – 3 December, 2000) was an award winning American poet. Ms. Brooks would have been 96 years old today.
