Thoughts:
At the very beginning of this book Osho gives an introduction into the real nature of the emotions. He explains how they cannot be permanent: “That’s why they are called emotions – the word comes from motion, movement. They move; hence, they are emotions.” Our emotions constantly change. How we feel now is not how we’ll feel tomorrow. But they are not our nature. We should not define ourselves and act upon those emotions, thoughts and feelings. When we act based on them is the moment the problems begin. Instead we should rise ourselves above them and not let them guide our life.

This does not mean we should repress them inside us and ignore their existence. This way we’ll only hurt ourselves on the long run. Understanding why we feel what we feel and accepting is the true way to leading a life filled with love.

The book is full with beautiful stories told by world known mystics and philosophers, and Osho’s advices on the real life problems of people from all over the world that had the chance to visit his International Meditation Resort. There also are few meditations and transformation exercises for those who want to right away start working on themselves to become conscious human beings, free of all their emotional and physical barriers and tensions.

Synopsis:
Osho is an Indian mystic, guru and spiritual teacher, and one of the most provocative and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. In this book he discusses a new way of dealing with our emotions and how our mind works. Knowing that how we feel affects not only the life we live, but also the value we give ourselves, and in some cases even our physical health, it becomes extremely important how we’ll deal with them. If we choose to express what we feel we might end up hurting someone, or get criticized by the society and culture we live in, and if we choose to suppress these emotions, maintaining our “self-control”, we’ll end up hurting ourselves.

Osho explains how the true way of dealing with our emotions, our happiness, hate, love, fear or anger, is to first understand and accept what we feel, let these feelings go through our whole body and mind, becoming part of us. When we’ll understand the roots of our emotions, the reasons for feeling how we feel, without giving them the meaning that our culture or society have thought us to, then we can develop the knack of watching those feelings and learning from them. Only by accepting and understanding we can manage to transform the destructive emotions we have into a powerful creative energy to freely lead our life, restoring our inner harmony, and recreating our fears into love.
