Thoughts:
This graphic novel was Kid Flash (Wally West) heavy, and more than one version to boot. I’m not a big fan of Kid Flash, or kids saving the day and such, but I still enjoyed The Flash, Volume 2: Speed of Darkness by Joshua Williamson (with the creative team of Felipe Watanabe, Oclair Albert, Chris Sotomayor, Steve Wands, , Jorge Corona, and Ivan Plascencia).
This whole graphic novel, from the values it presents to the look and feel are feel good and do away with the darker side of DC (contrary to the title). The plot itself is a bit weak and seems to be a vehicle to show off a new villain and the abilities of Kid Flash.
I really enjoy graphic novels which are much more focused on characters than some outlandish story. On the other hand, while I like this iteration of Kid Flash, he needs to tone down the winning a bit.
The art is OK, some of it seemed rushed and other simply not as good as it should. Regardless of the cheese aspect of this issue, I still found it enjoyable.
Synopsis:
Barry Allen, The Flash, has found out that Wally West has been fighting crime without his supervision. Wally has a lot to learn and Barry decides he can no longer be Kid Flash until his training is done.
Wally, however, decides to prove that he is ready by investigating a strange creature made of shadows in downtown Central City.
