Thoughts:
Ms. Marvel, Vol. 2: Generation Why by G. Willow Wilson (writer) and Adrian Alphonaand Jacob Wyatt was a bit of disappointment after Vol. 1. I enjoyed the beginning of the book and thought it would take off when some of the X-Men showed up, but the beginning was the highlight.
From some reason I couldn’t get used to the art, even though I read both books. I enjoy my superhero comic books and movies but even in those there are rules. The rules don’t matter as long as you adhere to them, you can disregard physics, or gravity, or human elasticity, and that’s OK but just be consistent.
The story evolved from a cool origin story of a unique heroine with unshakable core beliefs, which one can’t help but admire her for sticking to them, to a cliché “teamwork saves the day” ending. When it was the time for the big showdown with the funky villain, I was ready for the book to end.
At first I thought that maybe this issue is not for me.
Could it be that I’m simply too old for comics? Finally after almost a decade and half my beloved wife can finally rejoice?
Not really (sorry sweetheart), talking to my daughter and others it seems that I’m not too old, but that the story simply dragged. On a final, positive note, I really did enjoy a brand new, fresh character which brings much needed fervor to the story.
