Thoughts:
William Shakespeare’s The Phantom of Menace: Star Wars Part the First (William Shakespeare’s Star Wars) by Ian Doescher is another installment in the series () in which the author re-tells the story of Star Wars movies in Shakespearean language and/or style. All the books are written in iambic pentameter, in the form of a play.
I thought this book was the funniest of the bunch and I really enjoyed the illustration. Mr. Doescher wrote a witty book which made me laugh. I got some of the Shakespeare puns but not as many as I did in other books – I’m not much a Shakespeare scholar.
The fans’ bane, the much hated Jar Jar Binks is played off as a wise-fool, a great tool which Lucas should have used in the movie. This is another amusing read in the series, even though it is the least favorite movie.
