Thoughts:
We Had A Job To Do: World War II Through The Eyes of Those Who Served by Theresa Anzaldua is a very appealing and simple book about the history of World War II. I enjoyed the first hand, eyewitness perspective the author brings to the forefront of the book.
The stories are not only men and women who were on the front lines, but also those who served at home in support positions. I’m glad the author included those because they are certainly very important and, while not receiving much of the glory, should certainly be remembered.
The book is not an in depth look at the war, but it’s a wonderful introduction to the culture and people of the time. The book has some great information and the readers can jump around to sections they are interested in without missing a beat.
The book is an easy read (especially for adults), but it does pays tribute to those we now call “The Greatest Generation”. People whose character was built living through the Great Depression and fighting in a world war.
