Thoughts:
I didn’t expect much from 23 Degrees South: A Tropical Tale of Changing Whether… Neal Rabin but I gave it a chance and enjoyed the comedy very much. The story is action packed, sometimes hilarious, sometimes amusing, but always entertaining.
The story follows two friends, who’s way intersect again in a way neither of them expected. The author throws in a cast of characters (a Jesuit priest, a criminal, a Nazi and of course, the granddaughter to a martial arts master, a beautiful girl) all of them well written and interesting in their own way. The author goes on tangents for different subplots and background stories, however he does manage to constantly move the story forward and stay on the path of the main story line.
About halfway through the book the writing became a bit choppy and the personas became whiny, which might be comedic but I thought was not in character. I did enjoy the book and glad I read it, the story was easy to read and strange, but interesting.
Synopsis:
