Eden Phillpotts (4 November, 1862 – 29 December, 1960) was an English author and poet.

1) Mr. Phillpotts was born in India.
2) He wrote 18 novels and 2 books of short stories about Dartmoor, an area of moorland in England.
3) For many years Mr. Phillpotts was the President of the Dartmoor Preservation Association.
4) Agatha Christie was a friend of Mr. Phillpotts and an admirer of his work.
5) Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges was also an admirer.
6) Widecombe Fair, a novel by Mr. Phillpotts, inspired an annual fair at the village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor.
7) Widecombe Fair was also adapted to a silent movie in 1927 by a young Alfred Hitchcock.
8) Towards the end of his life, and a long writing career, Mr. Phillpotts started to write science-fiction and fantasy books.
9) Mr. Phillpotts wrote several plays and was a trained actor.
10) Two of the plays he wrote with his daughter Adelaide Phillpotts.
