I really enjoyed PS From Paris, so when I saw All Those Things We Never Said by Marc Levy and needed something light to read, I picked it up and started to read the book. Like his other book, this is a fast read with an outlandish premise, keeping focus on human and simple themes.
Frankly, I thought this book could have simply been a short story or a novella. The book plays out like a drama of liars, where none of the characters are honest with themselves or those around them. I understand that this is necessary to create suspense and postpone the inevitable results or a romantic comedy, but I wish the characters would have stayed true to themselves.
The main theme of the novel, besides love, is that we need to stop and smell the roses during our journey through life. We are so busy working, making money, or looking inward that we miss the simple joys which really are what counts when the end comes.
The book is a quick read, create, and a fun summer book not requiring much thought. There are some twists at the end which are unexpected at the time, but the observant reader will probably see coming.
