Thoughts:

My family and I love to take road trips. If it’s a long way we usually stay on the highway, but always look for interesting places to stop, sometimes spontaneously and sometimes planned stops. When we can, however, we try and stay off the highways and see the “real” America,  this is when we usually find local treasures, great eateries, excellent shopping and most importantly – nice people (for the most part).

Above are just some of the reasons we love the National Geographic books, we always get great ideas of where to go and what to do.
As an added bonus, the photography is incredible.

100 Parks, 5,000 Ideas: Where to Go, When to Go, What to See, What to Do by Joe Yogerst many entries into each park, how to get there, what to bring, what do as well as niche advice for those wanting to hike, bike, or camp. Each entry also relates some cool facts about the location.

I thought I’ll only find national parks in this book but to my surprise the author included some big city parks (New York City’s Central park, for example). My favorite section was about day trips one could do with the family (or alone).

This is a great book for anyone planning a vacation, or in need of some vacation ideas. I can see our family referencing this book for a very long time.
