I couldn’t figure out the point of the story, no deeper meaning, nothing about the greater good, or even getting justice for an injured party

A Time to Kill by John Grisham is very enjoyable and engaging. The story is interesting, the legal theories are fascinating, and the characters are believable
Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham is actually a collection of several short stories, which have very little, or nothing at all, to do with each other.

I found this book charming, the story flows and the characters are likable. This book is not a deep, serious, preachy, or legal novel, but it is cute

Acclaimed novelist Thomas Waite shares this short excerpt from Unholy Code, the latest thriller in his Lana Elkins series. “Look at the water, boy.” Vinko peered at its smooth surface and saw his reflection. “Your face is white as the clouds, isn’t it? Just like everyone else you see around here.” Vinko understood. He’d never known anybody who wasn’t white. They’d fished until sundown. After gathering up their gear, his father told him to look at the water again. The blood-red colors had appeared, darkening the boy’s face. “You’re no longer white. That’s what’s going to happen if we let the sun set on America. The white will disappear, and we’ll pay for it with blood.” His father had been right. The men in his family had all known that the most important threat of all wasn’t a gun or a knife, or even the mongrel races raging to get everything that belonged to whites. But it was all about blood. * * * A seventeen-year-old is impulsive. A seventeen-year-old feels immortal. A seventeen-year-old doesn’t understand that death can come in a whisper. Emma. Today I picked up my package from World Book Night at Barnes & Noble. The book I chose was Playing for Pizza by John Grisham which I have read before. The reason I picked this book is because accord to the WBN website they want the books to be given to “light and non-readers”. I feel that this book is perfect for this group, it is a light read, a fun story and not intimidating. I’m looking forward to giving out the books and seeing what the feedback would be like. Meantime here are some pictures from the package I got, including a good looking “book giver” sticker. Zohar – Man of la Book
