Ian Fleming (28 May, 1908 – 12 August, 1964) is a British writer best known for creating the superspy James Bond, Agent 007.

What I thought would be tedious, turned out to be a great and unexpected read.

A few days ago I published my thoughts on Reagan: The Life by H.W. Brands, a biog­ra­phy of the 40th pres­i­dent of the United States. I thought this was an excel­lent, inter­est­ing biog­ra­phy which is bal­anced and a joy to read. The book is engag­ing and I will cer­tainly ref­er­ence it in the future. I really liked the characters of the book, the three Kenyan orphans are engaging and likeable. I also liked how the author took the Wizard of Oz and weaved that narrative into his storyline throughout the book.

Mr. Baum was an adamant supporter of women’s rights. His mother in law, Matilda Joslyn Gage, even wrote a book, History of Woman Suffrage (availble for free) with Susan B. Anthony, however it is said she did not like her son-in-law very much.

The book follows Reagan from his youth, his Hollywood career, his presidency (which gets the lion share of the book of course) and to his death.
