I noticed that I’m enjoying this book way more than I should. It was a real nice surprise and I’m glad my friend recommended it to me.
The art of this book is fantastic, absolutely gorgeous and moves the story forward in leap and bounds.
The new character the creative team introduces, Raptor, is one of the better new characters DC Comics came out with in awhile.
The story starts off fresh and even manages, slyly I might add, to tell the Batman origin story we all heard a thousand times without breaking up the narrative.

The team Batman put together of Batwoman (Kate Kane), Azarel, Batwing (Lucas Fox), Clayface (Basil Karlo), and Orphan (Cassandra Cain) is really coming together cohesively and make for an excellent, character driven storyline. This book is focused on Orphan, Cassandra Cain, daughter of assassins who was brought up to be a living weapon, and the new/old Batgirl. Orphan is my favorite character of the new Bat-people lineup, she has a great background story and is an all-around great character. Mr. Tynion has done a fantastic job on this issue, he raised the story and team building to another level. While the book certainly focuses on Orphan, several…
Batman and his villains always created mayhem wherever they fought, this time the innocent victims are fighting back. They blame Batman just as much as they blame the villains. Batman and his new team take on these troubled folks.
This is truly a cast book. The “Batmen” are just as interesting as the main hero himself, actually they are more interesting. It is refreshing to read a book where the heroes are just as interesting as the villains.
The strength of this book, I felt, was in the interesting footnotes the editor provided at the end of each chapter
After finishing up the last story-line, taking down the evil Medusa, Kate Kane, a.k.a. Batwoman, thinks her life will get a bit easier.
I really like where the writers of the issue were going with the characters and the world they built around them. Kate Kane, Batwoman, refused to join the Batman team when asked, and only wears his symbol as a source of her inspiration.
