They were brave men who watched their friends die and still flew day in and day out. I especially liked the beginning of the book where Mr. Bradley talks about the history of Japan, explaining how it came to invade other countries and their feudalistic culture. The latter came into importance in the Japanese Army which made it impossible for soldiers to refuse even the most inhumane orders. Mr. Bradley chose a strange way to tell this story. The author jumps around a lot between history, personal stories and timelines and it’s difficult, at some points, to…
About: Passive Income: How To Reach Financial Freedom By Building Residual Income Assets by John C. Borg is a short eBook in which the author gives the reader some ideas on passive income. 73 pages Sold by: Amazon Digital Services, Inc. Language: English ASIN: B00OCXTZE8 My rating for Passive Income – 4 Buy this book from Amazon.com* Thoughts: I’m always on the lookout for books about passive income, so when I saw that Passive Income: How To Reach Financial Freedom By Building Residual Income Assets by John C. Borg was free on the Kindle I downloaded it immediately. This is a short book with some helpful tips about saving, real estate, compound interest etc. The book is by no means a “how to” guide, but more of an idea generator. I liked the money savings ideas and simple explanations of somewhat complex financial terms. What many of these type of books about passive income are missing, though, is that there is nothing “passive” about passive income. Granted, you might not have to be working 9 to 5, but to put these types of income generators in place takes lots of hard work, endurance and money (maybe not “lots” of money but…
About: Operation Garbo: The Personal Story of the Most Successful Spy of World War II by Juan Pujol and Nigel West is a non-fiction book about the most successful double agent in World War II. The book is a biography of the life of Juan Pujol, the most accomplished British double agent in World War II and one of the few men, if not the only one, to receive both an Iron Cross from the Germans and a Member of the Order of the British Empire from the British. 288 pages Publisher: Biteback Publishing Language: English ISBN-10: 1849541078 My rating for Operation Garbo — 5 Buy this book in paper or electornic format* More Books by Juan Pujol and Nigel West Thoughts: Operation Garbo: The Personal Story of the Most Successful Spy of World War II by Juan Pujol and Nigel West is actually two books in one. The first part is an enthralling memoir of the spy, Juan Pujol Garcia a.k.a Garbo, the second part was a bit dry (for example: featuring correspondence about imaginary forces) but nonetheless interesting to anyone who invested time learning about World War II. After he started working for the British, Pujol invented a…
It is clear that the author developed a great admiration towards General Dumas, a bastard son of a nobleman, born to a slave on the island of Saint-Domingue and rising to be a hero of the French Republic, albeit forgotten.
What scientists were, and to some degree still are, figuring out is that constant emails and texts appeal to a primitive part of the brain which is on constant lookout for a change in the environment because it might be important.
The book follows Reagan from his youth, his Hollywood career, his presidency (which gets the lion share of the book of course) and to his death.
About: Never Pay Full Price Again: 5 Simple Lessons on How to Save Money on Anything & Everything by Mr. Cheapskate is an eBook containing a few short lessons on saving money. 15 pages Sold by: Amazon Digital Services, Inc. Language: English My rating for Never Pay Full Price Again — 3 Buy this book from Amazon.com Thoughts: I am a self-proclaimed frugal man and proud of it, so when I saw that Never Pay Full Price Again: 5 Simple Lessons on How to Save Money on Anything & Everything by Mr. Cheapskate was free (on the Facebook Books Giveaways) I downloaded it. This is a short book I downloaded and read it in less than an hour. There is nothing new in this book and it is extremely short. The author tries to teach the reader how to save money, but the lessons are common sense and anyone who had to pay their own bills a year or so knows them. Basically find discounts using several means, be nice to the hard working folks at customer service and use rebates and sites that give you money. Frankly, I think there are other lessons out there that people should know about…
As a fan of history, I really enjoy the small, intimate stories which give a most excellent background to world events, and this book is filled with them. It was wonderful to read about the friendship, intimacy, companionship and service the staff provides the families who are on a world stage and sometimes can feel lonely and battered.
Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination is a well-researched biography which doesn’t put Disney on a pedestal, or takes his side on several issues
