Thoughts:
The Memory Painter by Gwendolyn Womack is a novel which sounded interesting when I read the blurb and was interesting to read. I really enjoyed the mix of history and science-fiction, as well as the notion of the protagonist painting the memories of his past lives instead of remembering or reliving them.

Memory is a fascinating subject for me, especially because I’m in an industry which constantly changes and I must learn new skills all the time, and because of family history. The author wrote a straightforward, fun story. Sometimes she tries and tell too much but I enjoyed the fast-paced narrative.

I enjoyed to read the research the author woven into the book. One of the main character is a neurologist and I found the science fascinating. The characters not only remember past lives, but also discover skills they acquired living them, that is a great twist to the story and one only wishes we could actually live it.

This novel was a fun, fast read filled with adventure and imaginative. Ms. Womack managed to weave together a story which could have easily been disjointed due to the different aspects in it.

Synopsis:
when artist Bryan Pierce paints, he is inspired by vivid dreams he has, as if he is experiencing other people’s lives. One day Linz Jacobs, a neurogeneticist, sees one of his paintings which depicts a recurring nightmare she has had since childhood.

The artist and the scientist meet and their meeting triggers new dreams and a realization that their past life memories might be triggered from an experimental drug to cure Alzheimer’s.
