Thoughts:
Living Beyond Terrorism: Israeli Stories of Hope and Healing by Zieva Dauber Konvisser is a collection of firsthand accounts told by victims of terrorist attacks.  The stories those folks share are very personal and the author does some analysis on how they were able to move forward after experiencing such tragic events.

The book is well researched, this is a scholarly work but still easy to read, follow and digest the analysis. The people the author chose represent many aspects of Israeli society and several religions, all suffered and somehow manage to accept the fate that was dealt to them.

The author presents each person as a human being, something that’s missing from today’s fast paced, 24/7 world, each person is his or hers own universe, not a bullet point or a statistic.  The book celebrates those who survived, learned and some even flourished from their tragedy.

The book concludes with a “Lessons Learned” section in which the author analyzes some of the commonalities which helped the survivors cope, and even grow.

If you are interested in the human condition and/or terrorism you will find this book immensely interesting.  A new type of survival book for a new world which we must all cope with and maybe will even give the reader a new perspective.
