Thoughts:
Deliver Us From Darkness: The Untold Story of Third Battalion 506 Parachute Infantry Regiment During Market Garden by Ian Gardner and Mario Dicarlo is a very detailed account of Operation Market Garden. The operation was an unsuccessful attempt by the Allied military to seize bridges across the Meuse River and the Rhine.

The book is very dense with lots of eyewitness accounts to the battles from the average soldiers as well as civilian locals. I found the narrative a bit hard to follow because it jumps around. The close attention to detail, I felt, disturbed the flow of the narrative. The military abbreviations also afforded some distraction until I got used to them.

This book, however, is still an excellent account of British, Canadian, and American troops battled in Holland, with the help of Dutch resistance. It was very touching to read how much the Dutch people suffered along with the troops.
